The original OC was baseball's rookie of the year in 1958 and the league's first unanimous MVP award winner in 1967. The son of Puerto Rico's most famous baseball player, Cepeda was a hard hitting first baseman who put up Hall of Fame numbers, but was initially denied entry to those hallowed halls because of one tiny mistake: in 1975 he was arrested in the Miami airport after attempting to pick up a shipment containing 160 pounds of Puerto Rican pot.
Cepeda, who started smoking in the late '60s to treat the pain from ten knee operations, served almost a year in prison.
Thank you High Times for the words.
