Yes, you can simply eat buds straight off the stem until you get high, but it will take a lot of chewing and cost a ton of money, because when you eat "raw" marijuana, your stomach can only absorb a small portion of the THC and other cannabinoids in the plant. You need to give those molecules something to bind onto, which means the most efficient way to ingesting cannabis resins involves slowly simmering, the buds and leaves in something with a high fat content, like butter, cream, or oil.

GARLIC ASPARAGUS with LIME
A delicious vegetable for the highest palate. Recipe by CHEF HERB.
Garlic Asparagus w/ Lime
INGREDIENTS:
1 teaspoon THC butter
1 tablespoon THC olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 medium shallot, minced
1 bunch fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
1/4 lime, juiced
salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Melt THC butter with THC olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in garlic and shallots, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in asparagus spears: cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Squeeze lime over hot asparagus, and season with salt and pepper. Transfer to serving plate, and garnish with lime wedges.
